what you worship

In his 2005 speech to the graduating class at Kenyon College, David Foster Wallace makes an uncanny observation:

“Worship money and things, and you will never have enough”.
“Worship your body and beauty… … and you’ll always feel ugly”.
“Worship your intellect… … and you will end up feeling stupid, a fraud, always on the verge of being found out.”

In response, The Orchard Podcast (I really can’t claim credit for the observations in today’s post!), makes a great point. In my own words:

“Worship the God of love, and you will know you are loved.”

We don’t worship God because we get something out of it. We worship him because he deserves all of it!… but it is interesting to note that His love makes everything beautiful.

Where is the focus of, or rather WHO is the object of, your worship today?
